Our Activities and Objectives

Working on Behalf of the World's Professionals -
Creating Conferences, Workshops and Meetings of All Kinds -
Not at Home, and Not in Traditional Destinations -
But in Sub-Saharan Africa, Southern Asia and Latin America

Luigi Lay (UniversitÓ degli Studi di Milano, Milan, Italy) presents hiw work at UniversitÚ Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar, Senegal during Mangosteen's Inaugural Meeting - Bacterial Adhesion in February 2005

Mangosteen exists to organize and facilitate regular series of meetings and gatherings in a variety of fascinating yet all too often forgotten parts of the developing world

Some reasons why you might consider participating in a Mangosteen meeting

Our current focus is on science, scientists and scientific meetings - but not exclusively - contact us about other disciplines

We work to foster high quality peer-peer interactions of all kinds - from international standard, cutting-edge conferences to smaller workshops - in short all kinds of meetings.

Our territory is easily defined - groups of committed professionals, discussing current and future projects - not at home, but in some of the world's developing and least developed nations.

Inexpensive Meetings - In Low Cost, High Value Locations

Our cost-effective approach ensures that these short business trips address several important issues - all by arranging for hard-working, highly educated individuals to take a cheap, enjoyable and enlightening break away from the daily routine of work.

Not only will Meeting Participants be treated to a relaxed atmosphere and the time to discuss their work and science in general in a stimulating new environment, but they will also be provided with rare opportunities to fully interact with scientists and students from institutes in the developing world.

Ultimately, we believe that the increase in both the quality and quantity of scientific information exchanged between these two disparate communities will unquestionably prove invaluable to both.

In the immediate term, any amount of recognition from the worldwide scientific community is welcomed by those working hard to improve daily life in the developing world.  At the same time, visitors from the developed world are unlikely to feel anything other than greatly enriched by the experience.  Not only enriched and informed, but relaxed and entertained, with fun and flexibility both being integral elements of our programmes.

The Mangosteen Approach

Mangosteen's Expertise

With an experienced and highly-travelled research chemist at the helm, Mangosteen offers the rare juxtaposition of knowledge and experience that enables us to both work and think on a par with the world’s best scientific researchers and freely traverse even the most remote regions of the developing world - communicating with local scientists, and academic and industrial institutions as we go.

On a practical level, only an organization working for scientists, and set up by a scientist, could possibly understand scientists' specific needs and interests, or observe details that may intrigue and fascinate them in an out of the way location.

Moreover, with an intimate insider's knowledge of science and scientific research, we possess the understanding required to meet your exacting needs.  We fully appreciate the demands of your work - we know what it means to you, we know how busy you surely are, and we know that you cannot afford to waste time, or have your time wasted for you.

We are not just another specialist company whose clients happen to be scientists, and whose primary aim is to pull in revenue.  As scientists, we too are engaged in achieving our own scientific objectives, and that we cannot do without the full support of our Meeting Participants.
