Aetiologies and pathogenesis of bacterial gastroenteritis; laboratory evaluation of bacterial diarrhea: identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing:

 Phenotypic (serotyping, antimicrobial susceptibility) and genotypic (Ribotyping, PCR, PFGE) characterization of enteric pathogens (Salmonella, Shigella, E.coli, Campylobacter, Vibrio) isolated from food and patients.

Research on aetiologies of diarrheas in immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients (identification of a new serotype of Shigella in senegalese patients infected with HIV) .

Identification of a new ribotype of Vibrio cholerae during the last Senegalese cholera outbreak in 1994.

 Food Microbiology

Bacteriological and clinical analysis of food and drinking water

Participation in the surveillance of human salmonellosis (detection of a new multiresistant Salmonella serotype in food and human).

 Characterization of Salmonella spp  and Campylobacter spp  isolated from poultry products in Senegal :  Impact on public health
