The first thing to make clear is that Mangosteen is not a travel agency, we are  not a tourism operator, we do not work with or serve tourists.

Yes, we will help organize interesting trips to a number of exotic destinations around the world, but no, we will not do so for anyone with money. 

We facilitate scientific meetings for active scientific professionals.  If you are not an active scientific professional looking for an international meeting to attend, then we recommend you look up your favourite website or contact your local travel agent.

Unless that is, you are a professional with a different focus, looking for or wanting to set up a meeting or gathering in your field - in the developing world.  That, we are only too willing to discuss and work together with you to accomplish.
 

The youngest, least experienced individuals that regularly attend scientific meetings are undergraduate students that are nearing the completion of their degrees - and that are currently undertaking research projects as a degree requirement or personal enrichment elective. 

This too is our minimum educational requirement - to participate in a Mangosteen Meeting, we require proof that undergraduates are both enrolled in an undergraduate programme and have research experience at the time of their Meeting.  

Undergraduates are though a small minority - most of the participants of international meetings either have or are working to obtain a Ph.D., or equivalent higher degree - postdocs, industrial and governmental researchers, university lecturers and professors and investigators of all kinds.

In this case, we will only request proof of an individual's academic qualifications and/or current employment status should they not be self-evident from journal publications or the respective company/institute websites and other freely available documentation.

As with all of Mangosteen's policies and programmes, we are flexible and willing to consider exceptions.  If for whatever reason you cannot satisfy our minimum requirements but are passionate about attending a specific Meeting, please let us know.  We will consider each request individually and  will make a decision on your wish to participate based on the context of the meeting itself.

Mangosteen's is not a free service.  However, in certain circumstances we are happy to consider waiving or reducing our fees. 

Without  your financial contributions we will be poorer as an initiative, we have less resources to develop our programmes.  However, without your participation we will fail to achieve more important objectives.  If the difference between your attendance at a Mangosteen Meeting or not, is the cost of our services, we will be only to willing to recalculate the meeting fee in your favour.  Please just ask. 

Fee Reductions for Graduate Students and Young Scientists Lacking Financial Support

Our policy is simple - we refuse to lose your interest and your participation because of money.  

Should it prove necessary, we may also be able to help you find the funding that will enable you to attend the Meeting of your choice. 
 

Mangosteen is not legally responsible for Meeting Participants during their time in the developing world.  All participating individuals will enter their respective Host Destinations on tourist visas, and although we will do everything within our power to guide and advise, each individual will ultimately be responsible for their own well-being.
